I Would That I Were Truly Sorry;

A poem originally for my rowing coach - I missed a session :O

If only your mother had called you Molly,
I’d tell you I was truly sorry.
I told a falsehood; and for that I fear,
I’m bound to be thrown down the weir.

I ruined your Wednesday fair and square,
I’m aware it seems I just don’t care.
Mr Dryden may well snatch my skin,
For my horrific cardinal sin
And feed it piece by piece to Jake
 Whose tail alone can make me quake!

In effort to save my worthless soul,
I decided, in fact, to grow a mole.
One so big the world will wonder,
‘What has caused so big a blunder?!’
This poem is just to let you know,
Of a girl who one day could not row...
