A Hope-Filled Cup

A Hope-Filled Cup

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Like a flower buds,

Blooming from a tiny seed.

A river floods

From above and beneath.

Hope dwells,

Yes, even in the midst of trials.

With each adversity the spirit swells,

Compensating all the while.

A current in the wind,

Bracing against the force

Until becoming one in the end

And uniting with the source.

Times come and go,

As fleeting as a ripple in a pond.

Though the water is still, refusing to flow,

It can be deep and beyond.

Yes, beyond anything

The world can throw,

Faith ushers the soul to sing,

Allowing one’s river to flow.

Like stars in the sky,

Hope causes one to look up.

A sparkle in the eye,

A hope-filled cup.
