In Her Heart

In Her Heart

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Her dream was coming true

In his eyes of blue.

Finally, she was bestowing her wishes,

She heard the voice of all she cherishes.

As an answered prayer,

He was there.

Coming in as on wings of faith,

Blowing her way.

Bright was the future,

Though there was no cure.

She was touched forever,

And to forget him would be never.

Yes, he made his leave,

But not before making her believe

In the power of love

And its gentle yet harsh touch.

Heartbroken and alone,

She was once again on her own.

Never will she know the sound of his voice,

Though not by choice.

No matter how much she prayed,

He couldn’t stay.

Even so, he remained

In her heart all the same.

Yes, you are right. Thank God for memories. Thank you for reading.
Often , what we want is not what is best for us. This decision has been made for us by collective minds more savvy than ours Often we need to put in the time learning and paying our dues. We will not learn until we have to test ourselves.

Very nice piece Melinda. Touching poem but at least you had this person in your life, even if for a short while.
