The Open BoxA Poem by Melinda McQueen![]() The Open Box
A box sat in the closet, Alone and forgotten. Year after year, no one came for it, Though its contents never rotted.
Holding on and keeping safe All the beauty that was inside, Hopeful it remained; The open box did reside.
For it knew what it held Even if no one knew it was there. Inside was all it felt… Every want, every care.
Dreams untold, Needs needed met. A heart crying to hold, A soul needing rest.
Though tattered and torn on the outside, The inside still hopes. It glows in a stunning white And only continues to grow.
It sits alone, Awaiting a blessing to knock. Refusing to close, The open box. © 2016 Melinda McQueenReviews
