The Ride of LifeA Poem by Melinda McQueenThe Ride of Life
Moving with speed, Always trying to get to the place Of your heart’s need, To find a certain grace.
Debris litters the aged path As lines of an old woman’s face. Years aren’t in lack, The ride of life takes its time, knowing no haste.
Making the connection with the road, Feeling every bump. Hitting many potholes, Trying to get over the humps.
Sometimes seeming to retrace, Desperately seeking to find A diamond in the way, The ride of life.
The journey long, Like the fingers who befriend piano keys; Weighing the balance of its song, Setting the music free.
With faith as a compass And hope as a guide, Fulfilling the purpose; The ride of life. © 2016 Melinda McQueenReviews
