The Ride of Life

The Ride of Life

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

The Ride of Life

Moving with speed,

Always trying to get to the place

Of your heart’s need,

To find a certain grace.

Debris litters the aged path

As lines of an old woman’s face.

Years aren’t in lack,

The ride of life takes its time, knowing no haste.

Making the connection with the road,

Feeling every bump.

Hitting many potholes,

Trying to get over the humps.

Sometimes seeming to retrace,

Desperately seeking to find

A diamond in the way,

The ride of life.

The journey long,

Like the fingers who befriend piano keys;

Weighing the balance of its song,

Setting the music free.

With faith as a compass

And hope as a guide,

Fulfilling the purpose;

The ride of life.

I agree dear Melinda.
"With faith as a compass
And hope as a guide,
Fulfilling the purpose;
The ride of life."
The words above. True and wonderful. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

You are welcome Melinda.
"Seeking to find a diamond in the way . . ." Very interesting. We often fiddle around us in an attempt to find something expensive (Not in the money sense.) The way you compared the long journey to fingers that befriend piano keys was spectacular. (Also the fact that you addressed the fingures as 'who' and not 'that,') The ride of life is definitely a journey, and people think there is a finish line they need to reach when in fact, there is no end to it. It's about the journey, not the ending, because I I have said . . . there is no ending. It's like traveling in the joungle. Where is the end? No where.

Any time :)
The ride of life is just one admission, one ride, I just wish it would go slower to enjoy the ride. a lovely write its just unfortunate we all have different outcomes or obstacles to get over, for some its quite easy I suppose.

Thanks for reading
For some, the ride of life is long and with a purpose. Sadly others just throw their lives away, never thinking of all they may be missing. Valentine
