The Broken VaseA Poem by Melinda McQueen
The Broken Vase It once held water Which nourished the flower. Tall and enclosed, A perfect vessel in which to hold. The flower bloomed In its tiny room. Finally taken care of, It thrived in love. Watered daily, it grew Into something akin to true. A lonely flower satisfied When it found a vase in which to reside. Surrounded by its glass shell, A safeness, the flower felt. Having a home it had been waiting for-- A place where love could be stored. But, little by little, the vase began to leak And soon could no longer hold its water in ease. Though the flower tried, It couldn’t stay alive. For it wilted as it was now alone, All the love… gone. Now in its place Is the broken vase. © 2016 Melinda McQueenReviews
