The Blue HeartA Poem by Melinda McQueenThe Blue Heart Floating high in the sky, Being lifted until it was a tiny dot. Moving with certain grace, as a breeze it did ride, Going, whether it wanted to or not.
Shaped into a heart, It soared the open space. Ascending to find its part, The blue heart made haste.
Filled with air on the inside, It rose higher and higher. Caught in a current, did it glide, Feeling lighter and lighter.
Once on a string, Tied down by a weight, Now as free as eagles’ wings… The blue heart is elate.
Knowing its destiny, It gives not a fight. Realizing what’s to be, It counts not its former plight.
Reaching its heights, It looked down in part. Surveying the meaningful life Of the not-so-blue heart. © 2017 Melinda McQueenReviews
