The Blue Bird's Wounded SoulA Poem by Melinda McQueen![]()
The Blue
Bird’s Wounded Soul Longing
to fly through the sky To aim
for the heights, The Blue
Bird wishes to soar, Seeking
what’s in store. But it
could no longer feel The wind
which once held its zeal. Having
been injured, it now flies solo, Alone
with its wounded soul The Blue
Bird attempts to sing, But its
chirps aren’t loud enough to bring-- Bring
about a change it desires, So it
sits on a wire. Afraid
to continue its flight, And
even more afraid to stay in its plight… The Blue
Bird sits alone, Feeling
the ache in its wounded soul. Searching
the open sky With
only its eyes, It prays
to once again have strength In its
wings to go the lengths. Knowing
all in its heart, It begins
to sing in the dark-- Giving
it to the One who knows The
Blue Bird’s wounded soul. © 2017 Melinda McQueenReviews
