The Sustainer of Me

The Sustainer of Me

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

The Sustainer of Me

The Spirit is alive

And closely resides.

An ever-present help

Kingly dwells.

Given to us-ward

By the gracious Lord.

Closer than my heartbeat,

The Sustainer of me.

Calling to remembrance

All Thy Word says.

The still, small voice

Bridges the void.

Taking up the space

Where there’s a need for grace.

A certain peace,

The Sustainer of me.

Holy Spirit, how beautiful Thy ways,

That Thine touch is my stay.

Interceding on my behalf,

Things I know not how to ask.

Dropped into my soul,

Thy compassion ever told.

Thy Holy Spirit indeed,

Is the Sustainer of me
