I Dreamt of a Purple OceanA Poem by Melinda McQueen
I Dreamt of a Purple Ocean
Still as could be, Purple as far as the eye could see. Transparent, it mirrored my reflection, And I saw my imperfections.
I sat on the shore and pondered The purple wonder. Why was it purple… why so still? Did it not have a will?
Began I, to think on my life, And how much I’ve survived. My thoughts deepened As I looked into the purple ocean.
How tranquil the scene before me, How incredibly deep. The ocean’s span As innumerable as the sand.
Suddenly, it seemed to come alive, It began to move, and waves tossed high. As if a mighty storm pierced it from within, I felt the ferocity of the purple ocean.
Just as suddenly, I woke, Finding myself with renewed hope. As the day I went about, My head was in the clouds.
The reflection I had seen Was not my imperfections, but my dreams. The color grabbed my attention to a powerful message sent… As I dreamt of a purple ocean.
