On Her Best Day

On Her Best Day

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

On Her Best Day

She let out a sigh,

Her hopes had been high.

Her dream was dashed

With a great splash.

It wasn’t meant to be,

And the reason, she couldn’t see.

She’d thought her plans were laid;

But it never panned, not on her best day.

The dream had been pulled from under her feet,

Even before it’d came to be.

Having fallen to the wayside,

Gone was the hope which did reside.

Years inched along

As a snail on its last trek home.

Somehow, she got by anyway,

And found a smile on her worst day.

Suddenly, a light shone,

And a dream began to take hold.

A touch of hope, a ray of light,

It wasn’t past tense, she was ready to fight.

To let something which was meant to be,

Play out the very thing her heart had seen.

Happy was she, when she found her faith

On her best day.

Life is full of disappointments. The art is to have a little hope in the store cupboard. It can make a huge amount of difference.and when you least expect it. Thank you Melinda for sharing your work with us.

We must always go forward dear Melinda.
"Suddenly, a light shone,

The above lines are needed often in a life. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

Thanks for reading and leaving your thoughtful review.
Your wonderfully expressed words create a nudge of 'pause, read, understand.. follow' - perhaps. For me, your poem needs careful and slow, slow reading and thinking about. We can all learn - even snippets, by considering words that somehow give a solution, a discovery, worth contemplation. Thank you so much for sharing, Melinda.
