Liquid Diamonds

(A Sonnet)

Sparkling in array

Of colors falling from the sky,

Mirroring the colorful day,

Descending from up high.

 

Drops falling upon open space,

Cleansing all they touch.

A refreshing sent by grace.

Liquid diamonds falling in a rush.

 

In glorious fashion,

They come tapping.

Are they rationed?

Or are they eternity’s overlapping?

Beauty in every drop,

Liquid diamonds cover every spot.

Such beauty in the imagery here. Droplets of rain can be breathtaking, especially when sunlight finds them. Mr E has given you some useful info re sonnets. Also Richard is quite the Bard on WC. I am sure he can help you with the understanding as well and take you under his wing. Whatever, it is a beautiful poem Melinda.

i am no authority by any stretch but i am going to guess this is a bit far from a sonnet my friend ... the meter is not there .. nor the strict iambic count ...it does have the three quatrains and closing couplet ... that aside .. the title is what drew me in .. the brilliance of that image alone .. i see pure sparkling clear water ... tho it could be any liquid at all .. i appreciate the imaging of day breaking ... coincidentally .. it is raining this morning and tho the sun is not up yet ... it is a blessing of eternity .. i believe it too .. for me ..a delightful uplifting poem, not a sonnet in its strict definition .. but a lovely read and experience says i!

Oh ok. I looked it up and followed what it said, but I guess I misunderstood. There were two types of sonnet styles listed. Thanks for liking the jist of my poem anyway. :)

yes .. there are three types of sonnets but all have the same basic format ... a nightmare for me to attempt as my "voice" is free verse and abstract .. but it is a worthy cause to attempt them in my opinion ... for me .. it gives me some discipline and a base to leap off of and go free and abstract ;) i enjoyed reading .. see ya 'round!
