Ode to the Oak TreeA Poem by Melinda McQueenOde to the Oak Tree
Bowing in the wind, Strong and mighty, All these years. The tall oak tree Had leaves which knew how to bend. Having been around For quite some time, It has seen many a change In its surroundings, standing ground.
Still, it stands, Ever to the call’s demand. A testament of its strength And perseverance. Its branches grow at length Stay
their stance. It lives, it strives unto itself, Stretching upward to the sky Where is its wealth.
For birds flock to its arms Seeking shelter in its frame. A safe, luxurious place. The oak tree a refuge For all feathery color and hue. Its years of growth stands tall From whence it came. Its folds of lush greens ever true, Showing
through. Beholden to its own, It is ever known For its strength over all. Standing true, it never stalls. From age to age, there in all its grace, The oak tree remains.
