Timeless Beauty

 

Her outer beauty indeed is fleeting,
like a rain to a sultry summer’s day.

Ever changing with years pressing on her,
she recites times past when just starting out
on a journey set in motion through time.

A path consisting of twists and U-turns.

 

Though she still feels as herself way back then,
when looking in the tell-tell, see-all glass…
she’s reminded of time’s hand upon her.

Lines crease her face… a visible timeline…
knowing those weren’t there a decade before.

Time, in its stead, oft grants not flattery.

 

But alas! time does grant wisdom and blessings.

 

At this revelation, she now smiles back
when peering into that tell-tell mirror.

She sees fun-filled years playing in the sun.

She sees years of smiling… in those deep lines.

When observing the bags beneath her eyes…

she sees the years of crying out to God.

Blessed is she in this awe-inspiring act
in looking upon herself in her grace.

Time has been greatly bestowed upon her,
endowing a lifetime of pure wisdom.

Still smiling at her worldly reflection,
she knows that inner beauty is timeless.
