The Lamb of God

The Lamb of God

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

The Lamb of God

The way to You

Was broken, tossed out.

Contact with You

Was lost and ran aground.

Sacrifices were made,

To atone for one’s sins, to be right with You.

By law, a lamb’s bones

Were never to be broken, offering true.

Forgiving sins,

People were granted release.

Healed from sin

The lamb offerings didn’t cease.

That was, until Jesus.

You walked among Your creation there.

Offering Yourself once for all,

As the bridge to heaven’s share.

Humbly, You gave

Your very life, leaving nothing undone.

The promise took place

In Jesus, Your Son.

It all played out

Just how You planned, the Rock.

Without a broken bone,

You are the Lamb of God!

Have you ever read Thomas Merton's version of Christian-Bhuddist poetry? It's fantastic, you would love it. The Way of Chuang Tzu by Thomas Merton is something everyone interested in writing should read I think.
