Like the Life of the Tide

Like the Life of the Tide

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Like the Life of the Tide

Love took hold when the tide came

And waves washed a once distant shore.

How diligently did the tide pursue its aim

‘Til its bold dreams nobly implored.

Ever reaching, and ever searching,

Never ever giving up, nor giving in.

Staying true to the course, not perching,

Sure in its path; unknowing of its end.

Trusting its source, the tide came,

Strong and true… its will known.

Dedicated to its purpose to obey

The Creator who led the tide on.

Daring to keep pressing forward,

It followed its set, secured path.

Striding with long, watery arms,

It sought the ever-laid-out task.

Driven by the great force that instilled

Measure and balance to its journey.

It aligned itself with the Creator’s will.

Reaching the place it was meant to be.

Still, the tide runs its destined course,

Ever willing to be led by the steady light.

Guided by the Supreme, steadfast source,

Its watery wings are unafraid to take flight.

Perhaps we could learn a thing or two

If we would attend our hearts unto Him.

Then, like the life of the tide, we too

Would be in sync to spiritually swim.
