A Wonderful Niche?

A Poem by Butch Decatoria

A Wonderful Niche?

The city's a blur

ceasless

as the rotation of night

into speeding flight...

This town's deranged

greasy

like the hands of perverts

afterhours.

I don't understand

that you're still here,

nothing happens

in this billboard valley

with its mannequin loves

and hooker students;

nothing comes of this

dustbowl

with christmas in the center

and promises on the crust...

I know, you say

there's a fabulous place

beneathe

the buzzing profits

its busy blinking streets

a wonderful niche

besides

the lions and tigers and Cher

(Oh My!)

secrets only you would know

because you call it

home.

another perfect picture this time left up to the reader to fill in the colors..love the simpleness of it on the surface but so much depth underneath.

Christmas in the ..promises on the crust.. Baby if I could have penned that..just wow

Many people choose to live in the city, in order to be close to trendy cafs, theatres and cinemas. A lot of artists, actors and writers prefer to live in the city in order to be close to their favorite caf, theatre and use the city as a means of inspiration. At the other hand living in the city is not at all healthy, at least not in the country I am living. I like to visit the city to exhibitions, museums and the large bookshops, but I do not think you need to live in the city. It has become more and more stressy and unhealthy over the years. I remember being a little girl wandering in the city streets and feeling safe. Now I just want to escape to the country! Thank you for writing this poem! I completely agree: cities are not what they used to be!
