The Bike Ride

The Bike Ride

A Poem by Butch Decatoria

We sped on our bikes

inflated by the ride, the new feelings

awakened, leaving behind the night

this is how we meditate

lapping of light, sipping the dawns

to conquer our minds

enjoying the bike ride

often times in a hurry

and infatuation with distances, blurry...

vision of what is here

truth and light and love

all that surrounds us

the road, the clouds above,

to be in this moment

without reflection or worry

a bike ride is all this is

a breeze on our face, a gentle fury

never sorry of light from the day

loving the now--understanding & knowing...

no anger for traffic that's growing,

yielding to stop & signs for "One Way"

we cruise on our bikes

just because we love

today...
