Kindergarten

A Poem by Butch Decatoria

Motivation was once easy

a gentle motherly voice

when still half asleep

mornings beginning new weeks

of school, new to this routine,

it is like some invisible hand, warm

lifting us

out of  a heavy dream

not questioning its touch

as our pajamas are pealed

and we are naked

in soft bubbles, waking up

cleansed...

knowing that this is good,

even when we yearn for that bed

to be ready with a kiss

on our forehead

breakfast in our belly

eager feet to catch the bus

knowing when we return

we are received

with mother or father's

firm warm hug

awake and still eager

not questioning who they are

because we are loved...

the wonder of it isn't so much that you've written this, but that you recall it with such a soft sweetness and share it with so well...

this was an amazing capture of train of thought.
the simplicity of love being enough when you're really young is wonderfully displayed in this poem.
much enjoyed.
