PIE

PIE

A Poem by Butch Decatoria

we both of us princes

in distracting demons' half moon light

stay awake past the silence

sprinkled by stars cement city

naming horses born these past years

dead brother and memory

becoming heavy with effort the times

wishing for the vividness of youth

witness his ghost prideful son's reminder

legacies of he and we in this seed

blessing you with I mischief

and angels' favor on us

creates love

tanglible in our children's eyes

how their words remind us

our lives with age precious

like a memory and name of champions

yet somewhere somehow a new

story's adventure begins

sweet

flavorful

fulfilling to the center

life

pie.
