Hillcrest

A Poem by Butch Decatoria

Hillcrest

...Come to love you

like a serrogate sibling who says all the wrong things,

while I chuckle, nervously

to make it seem smaller than it is - yet I still

admire the beauty

your exterior so natural and aloof

bright like a prism's touching shade

have respect for your wit and pride untamed

your mouth uninhibited to defend me,

tho' dragqueen acidic it can be - sometimes sprinkles shame

often times dispise your femme fatale couture

how you display too colorful

the make-up, rainbow flags at school

swish when you walk by

but who's to say how or why you should

do it a certain way

the more you flaunt yourself as if playing the crying game...

More people like the company

your personality and the dance

fairs and celebrations to you they attend

come to love you, dearly

like a brother / sister

blistered by

chance...
