Love, Live, Trust, Shine

Love, Live, Trust, Shine

A Poem by Butch Decatoria

"It takes a village"

The First Lady empowers mothers

and all the others

from wicked step-sister

to half brothers

weaving of a family who care for

and influence the growth of a mind,

a wide-eyed child

a club member inducted

into their circle of loves / pride

lavished with endearment

gifts of hopes

lessons for successes

their achievements returned

to the thrive

and trust

to those who dwell and live

in supposed villages nuturing love

a new born dream

for us...

"It takes a village"

Madame on Capitol Hill

with a Chanelle power suit so becoming

and the law of the land

in her pocket-book

military at her side

she hollars something like this -

in a book to claim

menstrating frustated mamas

and over-emotional fairies

to take her side . . .

it is a New York Times best seller

so of course, she must know

the rules of engaging

how to live and love

the unwanted, uneducated - wild,

how to nuture

a ghetto or war-torn life

to give it a path

to plow,

stars to dream by

good experiences to be able

to feel,

the tears and smiles with its worth

or words between them

to read

lessons of loss and integrity

learning even with death's sorrow

at times / falling

on deaf ears,

on white winter snow

sensations

memories

triumphs

nutritious risks taken

the scary-big unpredictability

of a selfish

cruel world,

from the moon

to our disco-loud cities

with the mirror ball's light to see

our dancing feet on sprinkled floor...

it takes more than

a lonely village

or politicking for our love

to have

to grow

to live

to hold

to be  - in the moment

(experiment that is your life)

it takes the food of knowledge

the choices with forks

for each of our roads toward

the gist of it (a hunger)

our purpose

our aim  with failures & regrets

loving everything

which shapes a name

blessed and given breath;

the art from our mouths to our hearts, paint

your life is calling out

inside the rain...

leave your village

to the idiots who cannot / move

or think passed the border / gate

it takes faith in each

step - believing and willing

to grow, it takes

goodtimes and bad accidents (s**t happens!)

but nurture this light / inside

love each time you try

let hate just walk on by

until you find

that treasure once left behind

to add to its shine

Do not fear to meet the family

there is love within

a hug, a laugh

a wink

a high five

that warmth is priceless

like the light of the sun,

all we have grown to know

of the world now

is greater than just the few of us

inside a single house

Understanding & empathy

also the truth

it takes

more than a village

or the power of you with

a handshake or a gun

live and even fall

in love

be proud of what you know

to be right / be true

it is about the world, about us / rise /

peace - it's about time to

Love

Live

Trust

Shine.
