The Crows in California

The Crows in California

A Poem by Butch Decatoria

The Crows in Ca.

The crows in California
Cackle at me
The more they tease with their Caw! Caw!
The less I am wary
On how they seem dark harbingers
Of other-worldly dreadful signs

But I let go of them
Even when gathering on phone-wires
Like the laundry of shadows drying,
They are silent
A chorus of beady eyes
Sharply condemning

Their silence—black like my hope
For earthquakes
Like a memory of sunshine states,
California crows
How angry they cackle at me
Sharply condemning

Of other-worldly dreadful signs…

I'm detecting cynicism and bitterness with a little bit of annoyingly hot climate. I like it.
My favorite part: "Their silence-black like my hope / For earthquakes"
Nicely done.

Very nice, and nicely done.
If not perfect, nearing it.
