For Darth Vader

For Darth Vader

A Poem by Butch Decatoria

For Darth Vader

I’m leaving your town in the air

it's easy to stay removed in wormholes

star speeds in lonely

glowing wishes removed by black holes

my millennium falcon's freefall

with only droids to accompany me

I’m leaving only for a few

Can't text my apologies in hyperspace

frozen in my invisible tears

friends try to dry

with phasers and Vulcan logic in earth-warm

familial breaths of sincere offerings,

And unknown gods

Found in the moments we look for them,

a pat on the back, laughter,

handshakes faked, this is

Stars Wars: living among the living…

But Darth Vader does have a soul, once

Some good left in him…

I  will return

with prequels to share

prospering  /with you in Galaxies /... I am

far away, live long all of you... lost

in your air. I will return

with the force of what has been

shared. Now breathe …
