Father Time

Father Time

A Poem by Leviathus Fortes

If I were friends with Father Time
So hungry would I be
I'd not hesitate to ask of him
Just one day to have his gift

To correct one thing that could have been
And it could have been mine
But interference caused a different route
Right now that thing is lost to me

An altered path, for those involved
A hand to hold and guide their way
Speaks a truth of hidden blessings
I make ready for what is to come

I'd like to have the gift he holds
All the things I'd like to see
Every "what if" that I ponder
So many lives I could have lived

But I'd find myself unwilling
As much as I'd want it to be
No regrets, I do not need them
I know that good came from these events

So I'll just ask of Father Time
Teach me all that I don't know
It is understanding that I seek
It is a journey of the soul
