I feel the simile doesn't go with the message.
If you mentioned about transformation you could have written about a caterpillar changing into a butterfly or a tree which is bearing new leaves.
Colourful paper boats on a rainy day are indeed beautiful to look at but it doesn't suit your content of the first stanza.
