All changes over time

It's amazing what comes to mind after the love wears off

It’s heartbreaking to think of the times when you got off

When you walked to the door and never looked back

When you opened it to the light and left the dark behind

Over time I think it was never that dramatic

Over time I started to remember what you were

Over time I knew we would never last

Over time I saw that you were never in love

My mind hid the shadows you left behind

All I could see was the great light I had lost

The times I was not perfect

The times I deserved my fate

Over time I know I wasn’t that bad

Over time I know you were not all I had

Over time you were never the angel that left my life

Over time you were the jailor that set me free

My mind opens after the healing

It tells me the hurting words that were said daily

It remembers that you never wanted me, only comfort

It whispers the truth of the story

It tells me I was better before I met you

It reminds me that I will be better after you left me

Over time I worked over time to get over you.

Over time I realised that I was over time and I just woke up…..healed.
