The In Between

I am so far away, yet so close 

I am drowning in the depths of the sea

My lungs filling with water

I freeze

I feel there is no hope for me

as if there is no need,

to carry on this fight

I see the light at the very top

I count to three

One...Two...Three

I kick my feet as hard as I can , and swim

I am so far away, yet so close

The sea will not swallow me 

This all seems so grim

I am almost there, I will survive, I have come too far, 

with no time to spare

I break through the top of the water

my lungs burning with air 

I tasted death, and I have tasted victory 

I was so far away, yet so close

I needed another dose

of hope, to make it through

Life is worth fighting for
