The Stony Eyes of the Lions Stare At YouA Poem by Prophecy
The Stony Eyes of the Lions Stare At You Stop, passer-by, read your Sentence to oblivion, private time Where in a sea of personal emotion Go the ships tormented and stormed That gave birth to motivation On the thin pirate ship of insomnia Noiseless as the hooves in your mind Of the love-stories scripted and unscribed In the memories fading barely above water
Stop, passer-by, make the illusions Real, the illegible shapes of desire and myth So private and slaughtered like the village girls Of who you once were and who you had Wanted to be, your ached neck No longer singing the notes of youth Stop, passer-by, once again to admire Your wings cooled with horror of how A life can become, tattered are the immaculate Swans, who once grazed here, like dear ideals Of love and happiness, now you simply Read your characters out of stone and The astonished wool of veins of sacrifice.
