RavishedA Poem by Prophecy
Ravished, by all that the heart considers just Yet hungry for the joys of true simplicity My soul can find no stair to you No haunted hallway of what-might-have-been For I mourn to save earthly loveliness And travel not for my genes To reproduce, not for some prospering Of sparrows waiting to nest?
Into the sounds and fragrances that Bears your name, what bliss might I find? A gentle heart to purge and to make wise For the beastly years need something more Than starlight, to make it better For mortal hope was trained to search for love A long long time ago, ravished, by all That one might hold dear, what one might Believe we need to make life bearable.
