Ahoy

Rigging of a vessel that’s me

With ropes, wires and chains

I cut the noose, set me loose

In a big, wide, open-ended sea

Watching you gesticulate

From the shore, waving wildly, madly

I drift far and further away

At my own pace and velocity

Ahoy! No bolster, bob or buoy

A boat unshackled free

Gathering speed, so you recede

Growing small, smaller

As I grow big, bigger, gleefully

Ballooning into my own expanse

Filling it with I, myself and me

Leaving not a hairbreadth crack

To let in the flailing speck of you

Hopping, skipping, kicking the wind

On the other side of the sea

Such a great poem, Dhara! You write more than just limericks after all! There is a sense of freedom emanating from your words here; that idea of pulling anchor and just sailing away from all your woes and letting the wind be your guide. I am not sure if Kitties in general salivate at the prospect of sailing on the seas, though all those fish below are very enticing! The undulating rhythm of your lines and rhymes adds creedence to your theme and is an inspired technique so very well done. No Bob as well? That is predictable! A wonderful effort that requires more acknowledgement. 🌹
