The other way

The other way

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt
"

Leaving you was the hardest thing I ever had to do.

"

The signals are all there,

pointing in directions I choose to ignore.

Yes but for how long?

Most likely forever.

I asked for guidance in this cold street
when supplied I turn the other way.

Why?

Because I have to.

And I know.

I know you are not at the end of my road

But you were.

Now you are gone.

road maps point me on regardless.

None the less, I turn the other way.
