as if they are me

as if they are me

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

Eye for an eye
Spread thin by why I still feel you
Hoping as an ego boost
Never to let it die

But it has to

Live and let die
Never should I have to
Stand as you watch
The burlesque show closing.

But here I am

The stars gently shining
Showing themselves naked
Beating against the glass
As you move on.

As if they are me.
