Our night

Our night

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

The stars shoot by
And the world becomes the clichés
That I hate so much when
I read about the love lives
Of characters in romance novels.

Your hand grabs mine
Leading me to where the band is butchering
The song that reminds me of you

that I mentioned when I thought you weren't listening
And the moment is perfect.

You pull me close to you
Smiling at the way I blush
Because we are the only ones dancing
To the music
That you had planned for us all night.

It doesn’t matter at all
That the people in the room
Stop eating and watch us
Making our best attempts at graceful
Because this night was made for us
