Beautiful Moment

Beautiful Moment

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

It's a beautiful moment
when I finally get to be honest
holding my pride a captive in the background
wanting you and not being afraid.
You see, it doesn't matter to me.
Nothing you can say will change the resolve I have made
to love you for the rest of my life.
In the silent early morning
The consequence of my actions seem barely a scratch
and no matter how the passers by whisper
I can not take a moment's notice
because all I can see is you.
Ok, so maybe all my poetic naivety breathes silly
and the look in my eyes is that of a childish fool,
but who am I to stop myself
when conventional love was never my cup of tea.
