slave

slave

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

With your hand on my wrist

breathing deep

eyelids heavy

the night.

my soul and defenses

yours for the taking

never knowing mercy

For this moment only.

Gasping for allowed breaths

ever escaping me

held by you

just out of my reach.
