Guided

Guided

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

I stare up at the stars

heart in a sling

head in knots

all over a word

from you.

It is not by my choice

to let the stars guide me

through a nightscape

dedicated to you.

My hands are guided

ever so gently yet constant

through the denial

I put on my lips

when I kiss the past goodnight.
