As I lay me down to restA Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt
It's the story of us.
You with your wishing well optimism, me with my dime store hopes, making our way through the land of make-believe until we found ourselves in other peoples hearts. "It's simple math," you said to me once when I was just a voice in your head. "And if you close your eyes you can see forever" but I haven't slept since then. I would be remiss to forget how it was I who forbade our moving forward Just as it would serve you to remember your role in letting me forget. I make this promise before I lay my self to rest "I shall hold up my end of the deal If you promise to take notice." So it goes for years to come Neither of us sleeping soundly without the other one. © 2009 Sarah McKeever Hitt |
