Again Last Night.A Poem by Sarah McKeever HittBreak my heart and hope to cry I died for love again last night. Fairy tales and shots of whiskey mixed up the signals I should have been hearing and took our sin in stride With my sense of decency locked safely away, I let you destroy my sleep. If I should die before I wake I would beg you to take this moment from me, freeing me from my current transgressions and givivng me back my pride. As I lay me down to sleep to fluttering eyes, I pray my safety keep. Be calm, this night, my spellbound heart until you beat once more. © 2011 Sarah McKeever Hitt |
