Blind LoveA Poem by Patrick O'NeilIn the corners of the mind,
the shadows of the heart.
Lurking in disguise,
a whisper in the dark.
You think at first, it's nothing.
Happened too fast, to care.
When it happens again?
Passion, chooses to ignore it.
Soon, fire turns into a flicker.
Leaving only coal, and ash.
Open eyes, see, that hairy toes.
Freaky nail, bent and ingrown.
The mole, in a secret place,
you swear, it winked at you.
Longer, longer grows the list,
every small, imperfection.
Hearty farts, and belching burp,
lost all, its comic splendor.
Burning eyes and rolling tears.
Peel by peel, secrets reveal.
An apple, once tasted so sweet,
became a sour onion.
