DarfurA Poem by Bethany WoodyThere is a land In western Sudan And they call it Darfur. A place unforgiving A place of hard living Many do not survive. Droughts, desertification, And overpopulation, Have things out of control. A war of ethnicities Created duplicity and autrocities And no one can survive. Reminiscent of Hitler People feel littler Just for being themselves. Mass graves hide Nothing short of genocide Murder hard to survive. So we see the SLMA Trying to save the day But it’s a difficult fight. The JEM in the mix And Resolution Seventeen oh six Hope to survive. The Janjaweed instigate A serious level of hate And the world finally sees. Stand and raise a voice Stand and make a choice And peace may survive. © 2009 Bethany WoodyAuthor's Note
