The Candle in the Wind

A poem about the passing of time.

A gaze
mysterious and distant
what secrets could it keep
the flesh of kind

Please, seekers of the kiss
run from us
embrace our passion
for we are nothing
but a mirror in the mist

Gentle waves strike
the shore we walk upon
unknowingly we search
our own lost brothers

The candle in the wind
light our darkened minds
for we do not see
the candle in the wind

Our fathers
the rock and rivers ancient
we call upon you
show us the loving way

The pretenders
those who falsely preach
we trust with our souls
blind to the tongue of existence

The kin of which we speak
lost for falling centuries
we have no brother living
the forest keeps us safe

The story races through
walk on by the dust
oh how we loved
oh how we died
