The Knees

A poem about God.

Why you can't you see
the regrets of the past
the deep, foul rot that's chewing on me
it's the haze of the past
it's the wind in the dust

What is it you're saying
are your words an inkling of truth
you're down on your knees, praying
you're seeking a hand, someone to sooth

You're begging me to give
a love so firmly set
but my soul is growing ill
I think we've never met
