But I was Afraid, too.

But I was Afraid, too.

A Poem by Quentin Eugene
"

A poem about love lost.

"
Quite a beautiful girl, she was.
As beautiful as she could be.
She was entirely enough-
But I could not make her see.

That my eyes were only hers-
No one else could fill my time.
But I'm afraid she couldn't believe
That I wanted to make her mine.

Every flaw had been overlooked-
For they were not flaws at all.
Everything hat made her, her-
That was all I saw.

But she left one night afraid
That all I'd do was harm-
I had no intentions of any kind that
Would scar her like her arm.

I wanted a dream come true.
A dream we once had planned.
Maybe she didn't take it to heart,
But I'm afraid that I had.

I wanted a rich life-
Two beautiful children,
And a beautiful wife-
A dream that would never end.

A house on top of the hillside.
A lake underneath the stars.
A life that I could call mine.
A life that I could call ours.

Travel to Sweden,
To Switzerland, too.
Go to see Georgia,
Or see the world through.

I wanted to help her fulfill all her dreams-
But I'm afraid she left too soon.
Afraid of everything we could ever be-
But I was afraid, too.
