Underneath the Arching Trees

Underneath the Arching Trees

A Poem by Sirajudin Matin

Time trickles by,
Like water in a creek…
And we pretend to stop it,
As we place stone in the waters path.

And as we gaze into the abyss
I feel the ground rise up around me,
And I am taken in…
Tonight I am the earth…

Your body’s warm…
You’re bright and brilliant,
Laying next to me
And deeper I am taken…
For tonight you are the stars…

As we talk,
Sometimes in silence
I am relaxed
I’ve given in,
I never want the sun to rise,
I’m wishing this would last forever…
Pleading for your company to stay…
