An Opportunity Has Past

An Opportunity Has Past

A Poem by Sirajudin Matin

Your lips,
They sing to me a final song,
For now you remain out of reach,
Your piercing eyes, have stained your cheek,
And the warmth you brought,
My heart has lost,
I cry with you,
For life's regrets,
A cry for innocence.

Yet arms extended,
I strive,
I strive to reach you,
I strive for one last opportunity,
For one last chance,
To hold you in the night.
