First OneA Story by Becca*Type2012A short story about my first home run.I step into the batter’s box. They put in a new pitcher since my last at bat. The pitcher is kinda distracting me because when she goes into her windmill she smacks her glove on her leg. Here comes the pitch. High a ball, but the catcher misses it and I stick my hand out to our runner on third base to tell her not to go, and the catcher checks the runner and throws the ball back to the pitcher. I put my front foot outside the batters box, so I could fix my helmet. I pick up my bat that was leaning against my leg and step back into the batter’s box. I grip the bat tightly, then release. I wait for the pitch to come in. I swing. I make a connection and the ball goes over the outfielder’s head and rolls father into left-center field. I carry the bat a few steps with me and drop it. I run to first, touch first, make my turn towards second, touch second, make my turn to third, touch third, and “run like mad” to home. As I round third the ball comes into the infield, but the catcher is too far away from home for the second baseman to try and get me out. I run to home and I am safe standing. My teammates are at the fence to congratulate me on my GRAND SLAM! Little did they know that I have never even had a home run before! My grand slam will probably endup being the most memorable event of the season (for me at least). © 2010 Becca*Type2012Author's Note
