Untitled Sonnet

I will not compliment thee on fairness of complexion,
Nor, the beauty of thy silky hair, nor say of thy full lips
That they be as soft as morning dew that the red rose sips
For this, be but prattle of mealy unseasoned lad’s reflection.
On no pedestal will you stand for to do such leads to rejection
That I be so unworthy as to touch even the hem of thy slip.
I approach thee, straightforward, with strong, manly step
That thou would have knowledge of my expectations.
For I would have thee most human, so faintly flawed
As to be of blood, bone and sinew; changeable as weather
Stormy then calm in an eye’s blink, no milksop for me
Sharp minded as the peregrine’s beak, yet soft as its feather.
Womanly, deliciously tempestuous be the very persona I laud
For only this woman would truly love such a man as me.
