Thanks

This is quite a simple one, but I decided to share it anyway, as I have recently started writing again. I'm back! :D

Oh that place, how painful it could have been
Would I had stayed, I know I'd be rotting within
I could see myself still drowning in the depths,
The deep dark depths of the words you spitefully said
But I know how to breathe, and to be set free
You didn't expect pain to be nothing new to me

You see, my heart has felt many a misfortune

Misfortune repeated in unending succession
It very well knows what it is to feel pain
What it is to feel loss without gain
And it's now in a place where bitterness can't live
Where it knows only to love, guide, and give

So I would like to thank you for reminding me
For reminding me what it is to be, and to believe
I can now feel with a heart devoid of darkness

While I look ahead with eyes free of blindness
Though you are caged from mistakes of the past

I will build a brighter future, at last
