Candle in the Wind

Candle in the Wind

A Poem by Candle in the wind

The candle in the wind
Flickering and blazing
Dreaming perilously
Logic and reason melting alongside

Not yet blown out
Not yet smothered
Sometimes a steady glow
Dispelling darkness or enshrouded by it

If you look close you will see the myriad shades
In the flame which changes shape
Sometimes feeble, sometimes bold
Sometimes rekindled by fumbling hands

The wax melts
The wick burns
But the flame is alive
And spreads warmth

Cup your hands to shield the flame
But don’t stifle it in a glass case
To save it from the wind
As you’ll take away its warmth.

The wind that makes it flutter
Is the air that nourished the flame
The breeze that made it dance
And leap up in desire.

Yes I like this poem very much. Metaphorically, it can be whatever the reader wants it to be - a soul struggling to grow, a person taking the first trembling steps away from terror, new love, blossoming and fearing a battering - all needing proctecing all needing shelter all needing warmth - yes metaphorically it can mean anything we choose - even just a simple beautiful candle shedding its light and warmth while being sheltered from the wind and protected by cupped hands.

beautiful imagery - beautiful write - beautiful poem.

Thank you

Few poems have made me cry. This one made me sob uncontrollably. I can't begin to explain how this affected me other than to say that my heart and soul have been wrenched from reality. You are a phenomenal poet.

Life is like this candle isn't it? Very compelling this poem of life. Candles represent us so well; beautiful yet fragile fed by the forces that will one day snuff the light of this place.

As a writer you interest me now. That is a complement sweet queen poet.

the poem remainded me of what i do when wind blows and candle is burning.Watching a candle while burning is a beautiful spectacle, the shades as you said, the steady glow of it till all the wax melts. So many things are there to be noticed and for someone who wish to break the darkness yet wish to enjoy the slow passage of time, watch a candle burning..Nice poem.

I love the light. The dance of the flame in the wind. It is such a statement of complimentary energies to me that the air feeds the flame may also extinguish it. Lovely write.

A very powerful poem with its words kept calm and clear.

There are multiple meanings derivable in this poem, but it gives virtue and personification, it also leaves me Philosophically inspired to realize more interesting things in life.

The wind that makes it flutter
Is the air that nourished the flame
The breeze that made it dance
And leap up in desire... How beautiful this is and so true. I see the many layers and meanings of this poem and think it's quite lovely in both meaning and beauty of the words and images. Wonderful writing sweet friend!
